Thank you for your support! |
One Voice CAN make a difference!
I want to thank everyone for their support during the District 4 special election. We sent a message to the Montgomery County Council that business as usual would no longer be accepted. It is my wish that we remain committed to holding our Council accountable to the backbone of Montgomery-- its homeowners. It is up to us to make sure that the Council stops using its people as their personal ATM! -- Robin Ficker
Home values have dropped about 27% in the past three years; yet, homes are assessed way above the selling prices of houses on the same street. The Council has been using homeowner equity as an ATM!
Robin Ficker's Question B (property tax relief) passed countywide and in District 4 in November. It requires 9 council votes for the council to exceed the charter property tax limit. It is the only reason the council cannot exceed the charter property tax limit this year, after giving us the largest property tax increase in twenty years last year. TELL YOUR COUNCILMAN "NO MORE TAX INCREASES!"
Look at the Council's recession stimulus plan over just the past 18 months: They have stimulated their spending with the following tax and fee increases while homeowners had to plan to pay more, much more: 13.5% property tax increase 10% energy tax increase 20% sales tax increase 52.6% state income tax increase 20% car tax increase 18% corporate tax increase 15 year high water bill increase 75% electricity bill increase 5 year high Metro fare increase new speed camera tax All this while we are losing our jobs, our 401Ks get slaughtered and milk and gas go above $4 a gallon! The current council is so ready to increase your tax burden that they have called for a new gasoline tax increase!
The Council is spending as if the DOW were still 14,000! The last time the DOW was at 7,500, in FY97, the County budget was less than $2 billion. Now the County budget is $4.3 billion.
Did you know? Robin Ficker was the only Marylander to testify in Annapolis against the Maryland sales tax increase.
